darn those olympics!

Why do the Olympics have to be so short? Really I should be saying why do I have to be so dumb when it comes to knitting? I cannot for the life of me figure out my perfect pie shawl! Grrr. It makes me so frustrated. I have knitting night with the girls tonight and maybe they can help. I am back to square 1 and with only 5 days left I doubt I will be getting my gold medal.

Yes, secret pal, I have received your package and it was wonderful!!!! I didn't tell M about the Reese's Peanutbutter Heart (ate that in secret) but I did share the rest of the candy. I am excited to use the yarn and pattern as well!!! Oh and Penny likes the yarn too. I left the open box on the floor that night and woke up to one of the balls of yarn unraveled all over the living room, I really do think she is part cat.

I also recently got a gift in the mail from my Gifty parner. I loved everything you sent!!! I have been eyeing those word stickers too so I was super excited about that.

I will get pictures of all of this put up here soon.

Funny Story

We had a fiasco at our house last night. M decided he would see how much water the sink in the bathroom drips by putting a glass under the faucet. We watched tv for a while and then he went to check on it and said that it was overflowing (it had been going for 2 hours). So he went and got some tools and I could hear him working in the bathroom, I continued to knit (another story) and watch tv. All of the sudden I hear water splashing everywhere, I jump off the couch, grab towels out of the closet (before even seeing the bathroom). I look in the bathroom and there is water spraying up in the air from where one of the faucet knobs was and mike is trying to control it with his hand (like you would see on tv) I take over with the towels trying to plug the hole. By that time there is water all over the counter, mirror, floor (bathroom and hallway) and 3 of the 4 lightbulbs have shorted out. He is working like mad under the sink trying to control the water (whatever one has to do under there). He finally got it shut off after quite a bit of time. I couldn't help but laugh b/c it reminded me of what you would see on tv but he didn't think it was too funny. I wanted to take his picture b/c he was soaked but he wouldn't let me. He felt bad too b/c my make-up bag was open on the counter and full of water and in the cupboard under the sink it is full of all my stuff and that all got wet, including tapons that decided to expand. We got everything cleaned up, used quite a bit of towels and we now will be buying a new faucet this weekend.

As for the knitting fiasco...apparently I was supposed to be YOing at the beginning of every even row and I wasn't. My Perfect Pie will probably not be finished for the knitting olympics which makes me sad. I will still plug away at it but it has become more of a frustration than anything.

Tonight I am going to see Haley Bonar, I love this girl! She is performing before Andrew Bird which should be a good show too. I will be a concert going freak for the next month. I will be seeing The Czars, Waking Ashland, Wilco, and Low!

The return of links-a-lot

Yay for the South Beach Diet. I have lost 6.6 lbs. in 12 days! I am impressed with this diet and how easy it is to follow. I was even able to eat out twice yesterday! We have learned a new way of cooking and have been able to try new recipes that we might not have tried if we were not on the diet. People have even been telling me that they can see that I have more energy. And....I even wore a skirt yesterday! Yes, a skirt. Me who never wears a skirt! It is so crazy how only a few pounds can make such a difference.

I have decided that I am going to do the knitting olympics. I am a little nervous that I won't get done because I really do want t medal. I am making the shawl over there in the sidebar. A nice little knit-a-long by Piddleloop. It will be a fun challenge even if I don't get it finished. I am using some nice marroon colored yarn from my SP6.

Oooooo I just have to share.....some friends of mine have a Weimaraner who recently had 10 puppies. These friends also set up a webcam so people can check in on them throughout the day. It is all live action and sooooo addicting!

The amazing things that people come up with these days.

And the alarm clock that would drive us all nuts!

One more. This woman is amazing (so is this entire site), she just makes me want to go buy a bunch of fun do-dads and get to work being crafty, making the books like I used to always do. I am going to try really hard to get some craftiness in this weekend!

In response to my secret pal's comments: I would think it would be okay to have a candy treat on this diet if it is from you. Have I told you how I have a secret love affair with Reese's peanut butter hearts, trees, pumpkins, etc.? It's true, mmmmm my mouth is watering just thinking about them. Also I will try really hard to remember to take a picture of the little kid sweater that I am currently knitting and some other fun projects that I have done.

2 things

Yes, I know I know, time for me to update. I really need to be better about this.
Well folks there are a couple of things going on that I would like to tell you about, the first being I am on the South Beach Diet. I started on Monday the 23rd and have lost 5.8lbs so far! I thought starting out that this diet would be hard but it is surprisingly easy. It helps that my honey is doing it too, he has the will power which helps me stay on the straight and narrow. We are not allowed fruit in the first phase (2 weeks) so I have been sucking on sugar free popsicles and drinking Crystal Lite.

The second thing is that I will be going to Florida in March!!! I will be flying down with a friend, neither of us has seen the ocean before. We will be staying on Sanibel Island at the vacation house of her boss. I am so excited! We plan on renting a car and driving to the eastern side of the state to see the real ocean. It should be a fun and relaxing trip. 4 days of fun!
